Unveiled at Watches & Wonders 2024, the Patek Philippe Nautilus Flyback Chronograph ref. 5980/60G-001 showcases a bold new design from this renowned watchmaker. This model replaces the discontinued red gold and two-tone versions that had been in circulation for nearly fourteen years.
The updated Nautilus takes a modern, casual approach with a striking white gold case and a blue-gray opaline dial, reminiscent of a softer sunburst blue similar to the 5811. The classic baton hands provide excellent readability against the dial. Notably, this iteration features a calfskin strap with an embossed denim pattern, which complements the dial beautifully.
Many enthusiasts believe the Nautilus case is enhanced when worn on a strap, and this design certainly supports that view. Retaining its core specifications, the watch has a 40.5mm case and a thickness of 12.2mm, along with 30 meters of water resistance. Through the case back, the Caliber CH 28‑520 C/522 movement is visible; it operates at 4 Hz and boasts a power reserve of 45 to 55 hours. Functionality includes a flyback chronograph with 60-minute and 12-hour counters positioned at 6 o’clock.
Currently, this is the sole Patek Philippe Nautilus Flyback Chronograph available, priced at 67,000 CHF, approximately $73,600 USD.
