In 2024, Mühle-Glashütte marks its 30th anniversary as a family business. The roots of this independent watch manufacturer trace back to 1869 when Robert Mühle established a precision engineering workshop in Glashütte, producing high-precision measuring instruments for the growing watch industry.
In 1994, Hans-Jürgen Mühle founded Mühle-Glashütte GmbH nautische Instrumente und Feinmechanik. He revived his family’s company, which had been seized during East Germany’s era. The newly established business started by making marine chronometers, clock systems, and other nautical instruments.
The first wristwatches debuted in 1996, carrying the Nautische Instrumente Mühle-Glashütte trademark and embodying the same nautical qualities of readability, durability, and precision. Today, the company, now in its sixth generation, is led by Thilo Mühle.
The celebration will feature the Edition 1994 series, with each piece limited to 155 units, honouring the company’s 155-year history in Glashütte. These special timepieces will be revealed gradually throughout 2024.
The 29er Big Bronze Edition 1994, the first in the commemorative series, features a bronze case measuring 44.2mm in diameter and is pressure-resistant up to 10 bar. This three-hand sports watch is powered by the self-winding Sellita SW 200-1 calibre, with Mühle’s woodpecker neck fine adjustment and regulated to chronometer standard. The dial includes anniversary details in the brand’s signature blue, such as a red “30” in the date window, a red seconds hand, and a red “30” on the minute track.
